Well, the last post we wrote said we were going to try to go to bed and get on schedule with our sleep... well, we still haven't gone to bed yet - and it's 10:00 a.m. here! It's a very long story, but here are some highlights (or lowlights?):
The carpet in front of the closet in our bedroom was wet, so I opened the sliding closet door only to find water pouring from the ceiling onto all of our clothes that we had hung up! I don't know how long it had been leaking, but if we hadn't caught it when we did, I think some clothes would have been ruined. We called the front desk, and they sent someone up with a shop vac. He did a good job cleaning up the water, but we tried asking him about the chances of more water coming in... he didn't understand a word we said. Another guy came up (and they both took their shoes off outside our door) and said the water was condensation from the air conditioner... okay, good to know.... but what about stopping it from coming inside the closet again??? Anyway, we changed rooms - and that took some time. Then we decided to go downstairs and eat breakfast... then we were both wide awake and decided to go find the US Embassy. This time we took a taxi, and it only cost 50 Baht (about $1.50). Have I mentioned that the drivers sit on the right side, and the traffic flow is opposite ours, they drive on the right side of the road! That is an interesting ride! We took a look around, took a few pictures of the outside (they took our cell phones and camera from us before we went inside) and then we decided to walk back. I guess we didn't realize how far a walk it would be - very long and very hot! Finally we are back and trying to figure out what to do this afternoon. The other couple from the US should have checked in while we were out, so we may try to find them and do something together (safety in numbers!).
Take Care!
Amy and Matt
